Colab+lab+lab goes to Flux!

Colablablab is participating in Science Fair at Flux Factory in Long Island City, NY. June 5-13. Open hours: Saturdays and Sundays 12pm-6pm. Specimens from the semester-long experiment will be on view in the form of artworks and documents. Hope you can make it.

You have to tie them down in case they come back to life and try to bite you.

Remember how we dissected rats that one time?

Rebecca is a future veterinarian! I am a future serial killer! I mean surgeon!

Those are just more rat intestines obstructing the top right corner.

This was very educational. We found the respiratory system, then we put the rats on a shelf and one week later pulled them out again to find the digestive and excretory systems. Then we ate dinner.

The Story of Life

Hey COLABLABLAB-ers,

My close friend’s brother just recently wrote a book about science/evolution/life. He does a lot of ecological work in Mexico and is a really awesome dude. You should check out some of these links to learn more, read the book, or send him some art!

Some of you might have heard I was working on a book. The Story of Life is a bilingual, evolutionary creation story, written in an oral storytelling style. A fuller introduction is available on the website: http://sunrisebegins.blogspot.com/

The book is currently self published on Lulu (click here to see it) . You can check out a free pdf of the full text or get the paperback for $15. Either way, be sure to let me know what you think of it!

As part of the release of The Story of Life, I’m also announcing a sort of art contest. If you’re inspired to paint, draw, doodle or even photograph something after reading, send it to me and we’ll start compiling a collection that will eventually become an illustrated series. There’s more info on that on the website as well.
